Had a little rain yesterday and expecting more this afternoon.  Current forecast has more rain in the picture Wednesday and Thursday.  Temperatures Monday and Tuesday in the mid 60s to low 70s.  After that it looks like mid 50 and into the mid 60s by the weekend.

Still lots of wading time.  Off every morning with something flowing mid afternoon for one to four hours.  Think we will continue to see this pattern for a while.

Gary on a wade trip with Matt and his son, Riley a week ago this past Friday (yes, I’m a little behind again!).  They caught some fish on the mop fly, a black wooly bugger and the tiger tail.  Dana and Jim were out with Jimmy, Brandon, Luke, and Jimmy W.  Slow day, but they caught some on the mega worm and a P&P midge.

Monday, Jim took Ian, who had just finished our two-day fly fishing school, out for a half-day wade trip.  Worked a little more with him on skills and they managed to get a fish to the net.  George, from Kansas City, fished with Dana.  Had so much fun, he fished with him again on Tuesday.  Couple of good days on the orange egg pattern, a ruby 2 and the P&P midges.

Wednesday, Carolyn took Karen out for half a day to work on casting and presentation.  She and her husband had attended our two-day fly fishing school back in September.  Fun day!  Dana was on the water with Preston and his daughter, Raegan.  Raegan caught her first fish.  She had fished with Dana a couple years ago and Dad caught all the fish.  They were catching on a tan scud and the mega worm.

Phil from Oklahoma fished with Dana last Thursday.  No generation so they stayed up around the boat ramp and above.  Catching was on the P&P and ruby 2 midges.  Carolyn had Tom out for half a day.  He was catching on the holographic crackleback when the water was off.  Water came on around 11:00 a.m. so they floated on through catching on the cerise San Juan warm.

Friday, Gary took Aaron and Jayne out for half a day.  Good day for them on the mop fly and a black wooly bugger.  Darren was on the water with a couple of fishers from Indiana, Matt and his friend Jim.  Good day for them on scuds up near the gravel bar.

Matt – 10/23/21

Matt and Jim fished with Darren again on Saturday and had a great day including a 24 inch brown for Matt.  Scuds and the black soft hackle were the ticket.

We are hearing good fishing reports from the folks coming into the store the past two to three days.  Looks like catching is picking up!

We have been getting some much needed rain yesterday and again today.   Might get some more later today and into tomorrow.  The weekend looks dry with temperatures in the mid 60s to low 70s.  That trend seems to be what we will see through next week.

No change in generation pattern.  We have picked up over an inch of rain, but right now, Table Rock Lake is below power pool and will probably continue to be below power pool.

Fishing is still up and down.  Last Thursday, Jim took one of his regulars, Jim, out for half a day.  Jim has fished with Jim for over 10 years and this was their first no fish to the boat day.  Had a few on but not to the boat.  Dana was out with another couple regulars, Gary and Barry.  They did get several to the boat on a copper Dun midge, the mega worm and one on a black hopper.

Friday was another story for Gary and Barry.  They spent another half day on the water with Dana and it was tough going.  Got a couple on a mega worm and the red San Juan worm.  Jim and Darren had a group out and they did not fair much better.

Jim had a new fly fisher on the water Saturday.  Larry from Illinois managed to get one nice seventeen incher in.

Sunday, Dana took a group of three guys on a wade trip.  Dean, Michael and Clayton.  Got some fish in on the grey scud, mega worm and an orange egg.  Also had a lot of misses, plus a lot of fun.  Darren was out with Ed and Tammy.  They too had several missed fish, but also brought some in on a zebra midge, thread midge and scuds.

Mark – 22″ rainbow – 10/12/21

Mark and Charlie fished with Carolyn on Tuesday.  They had a good day stripping the holographic green crackleback behind the black wooly bugger.  Picked fish all day on this combo.

Did catch a few on the cerise San Juan worm when the water first came on, but after a short period of time, the water cleared up and it was back to the crackleback.

Other than yesterday, weather has been beautiful.  Temperatures in the 70s and sunny.  Yesterday we got dumped on.  However, we certainly needed the rain.  Today is mid 70s and we are going to see a warm up for the weekend.  Mid to upper 80s through Sunday.  Next week we’ll see mid 70s to low 80s.  Possibility of rain Sunday night into Monday.

Generation schedule continues to have no generation during the morning hours.  Two generations on around 1:00-2:00 p.m. for five to seven hours.

Carolyn on the water Monday with Terry from Kansas.  He had fished with her earlier this year and took the two-day fly fishing school last year.  Good day for Terry mainly stripping a #14 black wooly bugger with a holographic green crackleback trailer.

Wednesday, Ralph and Bill from Oklahoma fished with Dana.  They were fishing an orange egg, a crackleback, or the mega worm.

Bill – 10/6/21

Bill and Steve from Illinois fished with Carolyn on Thursday.  No water running in the river but lots of water falling from the sky.  Caught some fish on a light roe egg from from either the ruby 2 or black copperhead midge.  Jim was on the water with Bill and LeAnne from Oklahoma.  They had some luck on a #14 JQ streamer.  Wet day!

Got a good soaking yesterday.  Today is cool and cloudy.  Should hit mid 70s.  The rest of the week looks pretty dry with mid 70s.  By the weekend, it looks like mid to upper 80s and dry.

No change in generation pattern.  Off during the morning and late evening hours.  Two to three units coming on anywhere from noon to as late as 2:00 p.m.

Carolyn on the river with Lee and Charlie from Texas last Tuesday.  It was one of those OMG days.  Had some hits, but nothing to the boat.  Dana had John and Gary out for half a day.  They found one spot where the fish were taking an orange egg pattern or crackleback.

Ken – 9/30/21

Last Thursday, Ken spent the morning with Carolyn.  Another tough day but we managed to get a few fish to the boat on a mega worm.

Saturday, Andy and Philip spent half a day with Dana.  Yep, another OMG day.  Had a few bits and a few on, but nothing to the boat.

Just keep thinking…..this too shall pass.

Beautiful weather!  Clear skies and light winds.  Little cool in the morning (upper 40s), but it warms up to the mid 80s.  Looking at a couple days in the upper 80s, but then back into the mid to low 80s after Tuesday.  Also slight chance for rain showing up Wednesday.

No change in the generation pattern.  Off most of the day with a couple units coming for 2-3 hours on around 2:00 to 3:00 pm.  Monday is scheduled to come on at 1:00 and run for eight hours.

Tough day Monday for Dana.  He took Melaine and Dennis from Texas out for half a day.  Had a few on but nothing to the the boat.  Carolyn had a school on the water learning presentation.  Hooked and brought in a couple.

Tuesday wasn’t much better.  Bob from New Jersey fished with Dana.  Did get a few to the boat on a mega worm or the cerise San Juan.

Mary with 20″ rainbow – 9/22/21

Mary and Bob fished with Carolyn on Wednesday.  It was on of those good days!  Several nice fish in the 17 to 20 inch range to the boat.  Few on the P&P midge, but most of them were on the holographic green crackleback trailing a size 14 black wooly bugger.

Thursday was another day.  Mary and Bob fished with Carolyn again and it was tough.  Few fish to the boat on the P&P and black copperhead midges.  Dana had Jim from North Carolina on the water.  They too caught a few fish, mainly on the mega worm.

days.  This was Haley’s first fly fishing experience and she did well.  Mainly it was the black copperhead midge during the early morning, then the P&P later in the morning.

Holographic green or pumpkin cracklebacks were the ticket if you wanted to strip.  (This is Drew’s favorite way to fish).

Saturday, Abby and Cooper fished with Carolyn.  Good day for them on the holographic green crackleback trailing a black wooly bugger.  Brian and Bryson fished with Dana.  They were catching on an orange egg pattern and the P&P midge.  Jim’s guys, Andy and John caught some fish on a small JQ streamer or a scud under a midge.

Coming off the water yesterday, saw several dead fish on the bottom.  Take that extra time to make certain your fish are healthy before releasing them.

Forecasting some rain in the area late tonight and into tomorrow morning.  Also, cooler temperatures (70s) for the next three days.  Then, looks like a bunch of 80s days for a while.

Generation continues to be off during the morning hours and on some time in the afternoon.  Lately it has been around 2:00 p.m.

Forgot a couple trips taken out over a week ago.  September 10, Dana had Christina and Grey out for the morning.  Not a lot of fish, a lot of fun on the rusty midge and the white mega worm.   Carolyn had Dean out for most of the day.  Had a pretty decent day on a gray scud and the cerise worm when the generators came on.

Dale and Tom spend last Wednesday on the water with Dana.  Nice fish on a ruby 2 or crackleback.

Dale didn’t get enough on Wednesday, so he came back and fish again with Dana on Friday.  Another quality fish day on the ruby 2 midge and crackleback.

Saturday, Dana took Al from Illinois out for half a day.  Really slow day.  B-bug managed to pull a fish out of the river.

Looks like some nice weather over the next few days.  Upper 80s and sunny skies.  Next chance for rain is Tuesday.

We continue to see no generation during the morning hours.  Ramp up time has been around 2:00 p.m.

Dana on the water last Wednesday with a couple from Wisconsin, Lou and Kathy.  Had a good time and caught a few fish on the copper dun and copperhead black midges.

Thursday, Dana took Tony from Illinois out for the morning.  Tony is new to fly fishing so he wanted to learn.  They worked on presentation and caught a couple fish on the rusty midge.  Darren had Mike and Ralph on the water.  They had a few hooks-up on tiny scuds and midges but never got them to the boat.  Ralph went out with Darren again on Friday.  He again had a few hook-ups but not to the boat.  Tough!

Saturday, Dana and Carolyn took a group from Texas out.  Carolyn had Steve and Chris and Dana took Dean.  Dean landed a bluegill on the copper dun midge.  Carolyn’s guys caught a few on a gray scud.

Rick – 9/12/21

Sunday was one of those few better days.  Carolyn’s guys, Rick and Vic caught several fish.  We had one low unit running all day and the ruby 2 under the big ruby was the ticket.  Dana was on the river with Charles and his son Sam.  They are new to fly fishing and had a good time.  Caught a few fish on the ruby 2 and gray scud.

We are experiencing very low DO (dissolved oxygen), especially when the water is off.  After it has been running for a few hours, the level definitely improves, but still not to the levels the fish really like.  Please take time to make certain your fish are in good condition when you release them back into the river after catching them.

One could not have asked for a much better day that Labor Day.  Sunny, but not too hot and just a little wind.  Today is in the low 90s with light wind.  Slight chances for a show tonight, but that’s it.  It is bringing in a short cool front.  We’ll be in the lower 80s tomorrow and Thursday.  However, Friday and through the weekend and into early next week will see low 90s.  Mid to upper 80s for the rest of the week.

We continue to see no generation during the morning hours.  On by noon or 1:00 p.m. and running 4-5 hours then off again.

Thursday, Carolyn had a one-day school for a group from Monett.  Mother, father, daughter and future son-in-law.  During their presentation practice, they landed some fish on the Y2K and a light pink egg pattern.

a scud.  Titus, with his young, quick reflexes outfished Dad!  And he’s just getting started!

Temperatures look like upper 80s through the weekend.  Slight chances for rain Saturday and Sunday.

For the most part, they have had the generators off during the morning hours then firing up two units around noon and four an hour later.  However, this past Sunday, they ran two units all day despite the projection for no generation most of the day!

Brenda – 8/24/21

Carolyn on the water last Tuesday with Brenda and Tom from Arizona.  Tom hooked up quickly with a size 18 scud but not to the net.  Brenda landed one on a rusty midge, then another stripping the holographic green midge.  Moved on down river and they both caught a few more on the rusty midge with a scud dropper.  Two units came on so it was head on down stream.  The cerise San Juan worm under the big ruby caught a few with only two units on the drift out.

Friday, Carolyn had Jim and Luke out for half a day.  No generation so it was to the Rockin Chair area to wade.  Tried several different scud/midge combinations with no luck.  Finally put on the natural mini sculpin and they started getting hits.  Several on then off but did bring a few to the net on the sculpin.

Darren out Saturday with Dean from Kansas.  No generation so they headed across from the boat ramp.  Managed to get a few in on a size 24 midge and an 18 scud.

Carolyn had Chris and Susan out Sunday for the second day of their two-day fly fishing school.  Susan landed her first fish on a fly rod on a size 14 gray scud under the big ruby!  Think she’s hooked!

Bright, sunny day today and looks like lots more.  Temperatures in the 90s through the next weekend.  Might start cooling down the middle of the following week.

Generators continue to be off every late afternoon into the next morning so there is lots of wading time.  Bad news is, when they are off, the dissolved oxygen in generally below 5 ppm and lower.

Stan and I just got home from Montana this past Thursday.  Wonderful but long trip.  Over 3600 miles but it was worth it.  Lots of smoke out there and they too have been having hot weather.  It was in the 90s the entire time we were there.  Many of the

rivers were on “hoot owl” hours.  No fishing after 2:00 p.m.   Now you see why the fishing report is not up to date!

Darren on the water a week ago last Sunday.  He took Tom and his son, Grant, out for half a day.  Grant was brand new.  They landed fish mainly on scuds.  Craig from Indiana did a wade trip with Dana.  Red San Juan worm, grey scud and light scud were their patterns.

Monday, Dana had Fred and Sherry from Alabama on the water.  Black copperhead and ruby 2 midges were their best patterns.

Bill and Steve fished with Darren on Tusday. They did pretty well on scuds and the crackleback.

Wednesday, Darren took out Bill.  Bill has fished with us a few times over the years and he still comes back!  They were fishing scuds and more scuds.  Had a really nice one on for a while but just couldn’t get it to the net.  Well, maybe next time!

Hiedi and her son, Brock fish with Dana a week ago last Thursday.  Tough day but landed some on a red San Juan worm or gray scud.

Another tough day Friday the 13th for Darren’s guys Rich and Norm.  What they caught were on scuds.

Finally a good day on Saturday.  Darren took David and Jim out for half a day.  Water came on a little and scuds fished well.  After the water went down, they were still hitting in the shallows on scuds.

Last Tuesday, Dana had Tim on the water.  It was the copper dun midge all morning.

Carolyn out today with Ed and Rhonda from West Virginia.  Tough morning.  Had a few pick and rolls on a P&P and copper dun midges, but nothing to the net.  Late in the morning we went to stripping the holographic green crackleback and managed to get a few fish to the net.

Overall, fishing has certainly been slower then just a month ago.  But, it is that time of the year.  Just have to stay with it, and enjoy the day.  And, if you are lucky, you’ll catch a few fish!!
