Lots Of Good Fishing Days!
Weather is finally breaking! We are moving out of the upper 90s and 100 degree days into the 80s!!! Looks like we might be moving into Fall weather!
They continue to keep the generators off during the morning hours until 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon. Two to three units on until around 10:00 p.m.
Despite the very low to no dissolved oxygen, the fishing has been good. Dana had Marlon and John on the water Wednesday. Had several hits and lost several fish on the mop fly. Carolyn had friends, Bob and Linda out for about an hours and a half and they caught several on the Ruby 2 midge.
Thursday, Kathy and Kim fished with Landon. The guys, Bryan and Dave fished with Dana. Everyone had a very good day, and these folks are brand new fly fishers. They took a one-day class from Carolyn on Monday, where everyone caught or had on several fish during the presentation portion of the class. Had so much fun, they came back and fished with us again. The ladies were catching on the Ruby 2, or black copperhead midges and cream mop fly. The guys were pulling an olive wooly bugger or drifting the Ruby 2 midge. Ron and Kathy from Louisiana fished with Carolyn. It was a Ron day. He was the catcher in the boat. Ruby 2 under the black copperhead midge and when the wind picked up, it was the cream mop fly. Unfortunately, it was sooo hot, Kathy overheated and it took a gatorade to get her electrolytes back to normal. Stay hydrated!!
Jim had John and Lindsey on the water Friday. Good day for them stripping a light colored sculpin. Landon had Josh out for the morning. Started off slow, but once the fog lifted off, it was catching time. Holographic green crackleback, JQ streamer and mop fly and/or egg patterns. Kevin and Fred from Kansas fished with Dana. Good day for them too. They were fishing the olive wooly bugger or orange egg pattern. Carolyn had Gabe, from California out during the morning hours for the casting portion of his one-day school. Learned and worked on the various casts. With this accomplished, we then focused for a little while on the presentation techniques. He hooked a few fish drifting the Ruby 2 midge and stripping the holographic green cracked back.
Needless to say, Gabe was back on Saturday to go catch some fish on a fly rod. He spent the morning on the river with Landon. Good day on the mop fly and stripping the holographic green crackleback. Carolyn had Terry and his daughter, Kyle on the river. Kyle was catching on the Ruby 2 midge and cream mop fly and a few stripping the holographic green crackleback. Terry did best on the Ruby 2 midge. They had two doubles!
