Seeing Some Lower Water!

We have had some great weather the past several days.  Thursday, Friday and Saturday were in the upper 70s, low 80s.  Today is a little cool down…mid 60s but sunny.  70s and 80s are the temps for next week with a chance for rain sneaking in Wednesday and increasing Thursday and Friday.  Right now, the weekend is saying 20% chance for showers with temps in the 70s.

Finally seeing some change in the generation pattern.  We have had two units running 24/7 until today, Sunday.  One low unit this morning until 7:00 a.m.  Two back on until noon then a low one unit again until 5:00 p.m.  Monday looks like the normal two units from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.  If we don’t get a lot of rain, we might see some lower generation levels for a change.

Fishing has been very good.  Darren on the water last Tuesday and Wednesday with James and

his son, Max.  Very good day for them on the Ruby 2, Little Rusty and Mop Fly.  Full days both days and he kept them busy.

Thursday and Friday, Carolyn took Ben and his wife Christy out for a couple half days.  This was a surprise birthday present Ben gave to Christy.  She had someday wanted to catch a fish on a fly rod and when they walked into the shop, it was a total surprise for her.  Neither had ever fly fished before so we hit the water we spent some time learned the basic roll cast and line management.  Within 50 feet from the boat ramp,

Ben had had three hits.  He missed the first two but hook up with the third.  With two units running and Ben having his first fish on a fly rod, he didn’t have a chance.  Played it well for several minutes but the fish got tired of us and made

one final run to the bottom.  Snap!  We had a great two half days on the ruby 2 under the big ruby.  Christy caught her first fish on a fly rod and was a happy camper.  She went on to catch several more….they both did.   Happy Birthday Christy!

Some of Jim’s long timers, Dwan and Robert spent all day Friday on the river with him.  They too had a wonderful day on the water.  Nymphing the ruby midge or stripping a JQ streamer were their best ways for bringing fish to the boat.
